Trader shot, robbed of Tk 4.76 lakh
Miscreants mugged a businessman of Tk 4.76 lakh after shooting at him in Kalira Bazar area in the city yesterday noon.
The victim, Md Manik, is the owner of Chand and Co, a dealer of fuel and LP Gas.
The businessman claimed that the miscreants fired about 20 bullets, created panic and snatched the money from him.
Manik said he withdrew Tk 4.76 lakh from his business firm and started for bank along with his friends, Salam and Halim.
He said the miscreants were going on foot and when they went about 10 yards from his firm, five masked muggers riding on two motorbikes brandished arms at them.
When they tried to snatch a bag containing the money, they had a scuffle with the muggers. At one stage, the muggers opened fire and took away the bag with the money.
A shop employee, Haji Hashem, was also injured in the incident.
Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Manzur Kader said they were investigating the incident.
