Memo to PM for dev of Rajshahi

Rajshahi Rakkha Sangram Parishad (RRSP) yesterday submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to press home its 19-point demand. Leaders and activists of RRSP placed the memorandum through the deputy commissioner of Rajshahi. The demands include, converting Rajshahi Medical College into a medical university, capital dredging in the Padma, construction of Rajshahi-Bagha-Charghat-Rajshahi city protect dam, establishment of agro-based EPZ and Rajshahi Agriculture University, announcing Rajshahi as a new industrial city, launching full-fledged TV studio, more train services between Rajshahi and Dhaka, starting double shift in government educational institution and establishment of women cadet college. Earlier at a meeting at the deputy commissioner's office, they urged the government to allocate sufficient fund for Rajshahi. RRSP general secretary Zamat Khan, adviser Prof Ruhul Amin Pramanik, Manjur Hossain Mithu, freedom fighter Saidur Rahman and businessmen Jasim Uddin, Ali Reza and Suvas Chandra Hembram, among others, addressed the meeting. RRSP vice president Abdul Mannan presided over the programme. Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hannan and Additional Deputy Commissioner (education and development) Dewan Md Abdus Samad were also present on the occasion.
