72 teachers, students of Kurigram college food-poisoned
At least 72 people, including teachers and students of a college, fell sick after taking stale food brought from a hotel in Nageswari upazila on Sunday.
Twenty of them were admitted to the upazila health complex while the rest given first aid.
Locals said a view exchange meeting on development of education quality of students was held at Nageswari Women's College attended by teachers, students and guardians.
Following the meeting, food items purchased in parcel from Banaful Hotel and Restaurant near the college were distributed among the participants.
Hours after having the food, they were admitted to the health complex with stomach pain, vomiting, fever and headache.
They fell sick due to food poisoning, said Dr Amjad Hossain, residence medical officer of the health complex.
Civil Surgeon Reazul Islam visited the health complex following the incident.
