Police Raid at Hostels
Books on Shibir activities seized
Police raided three hostels of Chittagong Government College in Chittagong city yesterday following a half-day hartal enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami.
During the one-and-a-half-hour raid at Suhrawardi, Sher-e-Bangla and Dr Abdus Sabur hostels, dominated by Shibir activists, at Chawk Bazar, police recovered sticks and books on training Shibir activists, said sources.
In the last few days, activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat, were seen bringing out processions suddenly and then disappearing. This mysterious attitude prompted police to conduct the raid, said Inspector (investigation) Sadip Kumar Das of Kotwali Police Station.
