144 imposed on rally at Dhunat
The district administration has imposed the Section 144 restricting public rally at Dhunat upazila headquarters from 6:00am to 8:00pm today in apprehension of maintaining law and order situation in the area.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dhunat Ataul Gani announced the measure yesterday amid simmering tension created in the area in the wake of convening rallies at the same venue by two front organisations of the local BNP.
Police and BNP sources said Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal called the rallies at the same venue at the same time to observe BNP's founder former president Ziaur Rahman's death anniversary.
