Journalists play a pivotal role in building the conscience of the nation. All over the world they are treated with respect but Bangladesh is an exception in this regard. In our country journalists usually face much obstruction in their professional life and they often experience oppressive treatment by the government. The recent attack on three photojournalists by the police was really barbaric. This behaviour of the police force is also a threat to democracy. It is sad to notice that almost no action is taken against the police whenever they attack the journalists. Only closing and suspending the police personnel for some months are not enough to prevent such type of inhuman attack by the police. It is the duty of the state to prevent the recurrence of such brutal incidents. We demand exemplary punishment of those policemen for the sake of democracy and freedom of media.
