5 die, 7 hurt in road crashes
Five people, including two of a family, were killed and seven others injured in separate road accidents in Jhenidah, Sirajganj, Dinajpur, Satkhira and Chittagong on Saturday and yesterday.
Our Jhenidah correspondent reports: A woman and her son were killed and her husband was injured as a truck rammed their motorbike at Kotchandpur main bus stand in Kotchandpur upazila yesterday afternoon.
The deceased are Rina Paul, 27, her son Shuvo Paul, 7.
The injured Shuvash Paul, 36, was undergoing treatment at Kotchandpur Upazila Health Complex.
In Sirajganj, a bank officer was killed and five others were injured as a tank lorry hit them from behind on Bogra-Nagarbari highway near Dilruba bus stand in Shahzadpur upazila yesterday noon.
The deceased is Rasel Alam, 27.
The injured were rushed to Shahzadpur Upazila Health Complex.
In Dinajpur, Md Anis Hossain, 10, son of Md Babul, died instantly when a pick-up van ran over him while he was crossing the road near Parbatipur Central Bus Terminal in Parbatipur upazila on Saturday night.
In Satkhira, motorcyclist Wazed Ali Kalu, 30, was killed when another motorbike collided head-on with his one on Satkhira-Kaliganj road in Bahera Madrasha area in Debhata upazila yesterday.
He succumbed to his injuries at Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
In Chittagong, a private car driver was injured as a as a tree fell onto the running vehicle in Chittagong College area in Chawkbazar of the port city yesterday.
The victim is Md Zahidul Islam Tipu, 46.
