527 women victimised in May

Eighty women and children were killed in last May this year among the 527 women who were the victims of different repressions, says a report of Bangladesh Mahila Parisahd yesterday.
Thirty-one women were killed over dowry. Sixty-one fell victims to violation, of them 15 were gang raped and 11 were killed after violation, the report added.
The report was prepared based on the news published in 14 dailies. It showed 29 women were tortured for not giving dowry. Nine were hurled acid; two were burnt to death. Fifteen were abducted, 28 women were victims of molestation and 11 were victims of attempt to rape.
It also mentioned that five domestic help were killed among 10 who were tortured, 47 women being the victims of stalking while two of them compelled to commit suicide; 47 others compelled to kill themselves and three others were victims of torture by police.
