Case Against 29 Leaders
Hearing on bail tomorrow
The High Court fixed tomorrow for holding hearing on the rules issued over the bail of 29 opposition leaders including BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in an arson case.
The HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan yesterday fixed the date after Rafique-ul Huq, Moudud Ahmed and Zainul Abedin, counsels for the accused leaders in custody, prayed for early hearing on the rules.
In response to 11 separate petitions filed by the accused leaders, the court on May 27 issued the rules upon the government to explain in a week why the 29 accused petitioners should not be granted bail in the case filed for torching a vehicle during hartal hours on April 29.
