Lightning kills woman
A woman was killed in lightning at Patiya in the district yesterday morning.
The deceased is Suraiya Akhter, 22, wife of Mohammad Selim, an official of Rupali Bank Ltd.
A thunderbolt hit Suraiya around 8:30am while she was working at kitchen in her father's residence, killing her instantly, said Selim.
“As the kitchen's roof was made of tin and there was a crack in it, Suraiya was struck by the thunderbolt,” he added.
