AIDS Prevention
Govt-NGO ties necessary
Government and non-government organisations (NGOs) should cooperate and work more sincerely to prevent AIDS and build public awareness of the disease, speakers said at a discussion yesterday.
The government needs to work together with HIV-infected people, attempt to reduce the rate of transmission of AIDS, and encourage mass participation on this issue to ensure normal growth of the country's economy, they said at a discussion programme styled “Media Dialogue on HIV and AIDS”.
The programme, held at Chittagong Press Club auditorium, was jointly organised by Youth Power in Social Action, Social Marketing Company, Ashar Alo Society, and Bandhu Social Welfare Society in association with Family Health International (FHI)-360.
AK Shafiqur Rahman, senior deputy director of BCCP, Tapan Dash, additional news editor of The Daily Samakal, among others were present at the programme.
