Road accidents kill five

Four people were killed and 17 others injured in separate road accidents in Narayanganj, Chittagong, Khulna, Sirajganj and Manikganj yesterday. Our Narayanganj correspondent reports, Sultana Aktar, 30, was killed instantly and her husband and son were injured when a truck hit their motorcycle from behind at Aliganj of Fatullah yesterday. The injured are Joynal Abedin and his son Shishir Ahamad Shawon, 5. In Chittagong, truck helper Mohammad Jahangir, 30, was killed as the truck hit another standing truck on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar road at Satkania intersection in the city early hours of yesterday. He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures. In Khulna, motorcyclist Kamruzzaman Liton died instantly when a pick-up van hit his motorbike near Khulna Filing Station in 14 mile area of Phultala upazila yesterday. In Sirajganj, Ruhul Amin, 35, was killed on the spot and 15 others were injured as a coach fell into a ditch beside Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway at Gotiarbeel in Salanga area yesterday morning. The injured were admitted to different clinics and hospitals. In Manikganj, an unidentified truck helper died instantly when a Paturia-bound truck rand over him on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Muljan in the sadar upazila yesterday.
