4 killed in road crashes

Four people were killed and 20 others injured in road accidents in Dhaka, Rangpur and Netrokona on Thursday night and yesterday. UNB reports, a rickshaw-puller was killed when a covered van hit his rickshaw at Merul Badda in the capital on Thursday night. Suva Babu died instantly at about 11:40pm. Police arrested the covered van driver Abul Bashar and seized his vehicle. Our correspondent from Rangpur adds, two people were killed and 20 others injured when a bus hit a stranded truck from behind on Rangpur-Dhaka Highway in front of Taraganj Upazila Health Complex yesterday. The two unidentified persons died on the spot around 7:45am. Injured four persons were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital while others to Taraganj Upazila Health Complex. Our correspondent from Netrakona reports, a pregnant woman was killed as truck hit her while crossing the Kendua-Mymensingh road at Sangjana in Kendua upazila yesterday morning, said police. The dead is Popi Akther, 30, wife of Mohammad Sabuj Mia of Sangjana village of the upazila.
