11 BNP men get bail in Ctg
A Chittagong court yesterday granted bail to 10 BNP activists in three cases of vandalising and torching vehicles in the port city's Kazir Dewri and Wasa intersection areas on May 13.
It also upheld the bail period of Aslam Chowdhury, general secretary of BNP Chittagong district north unit, who got bail from the High Court (HC) in the same cases till June 20, said court sources.
The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abdur Rahman passed the order yesterday when the 11 opposition party men surrendered before it.
Defence lawyer Advocate Abdus Sattar confirmed about the bail orders.
On May 13, at least 100 people, including police and journalists, were injured and three vehicles torched and many others vandalised in clashes between BNP-Jamaat activists and law enforcers in Kazir Dewri area.
A total of six cases were filed against more than 2,000 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 18-party alliance with Kotwali and Khulshi Police Stations in this regard.
