5 BNP men get bail in Ctg
A Chittagong court yesterday granted bail to five BNP leaders till July 4 in connection with two cases for torching vehicles and clashing with police on May 13.
The court also fixed the date for the next hearing, said court sources.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Muntasir Mamun passed the order after the five leaders surrendered before it.
The BNP men are Aslam Chowdhury, general secretary of BNP Chittagong district (north), Mohammad Shahjahan, Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) ward councillor, Abul Hshem Bakkar, SK Khoda Totan, and Sheikh Rasel.
On May 13, over 100 people were injured as law enforcers clashed with leaders and activists of the BNP-led 18-party alliance in Kazir Dewry area in Chittagong.
Three cars were torched and around 50 vehicles were vandalised during the clashes.
A total of six cases were filed against over 2,000 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 18-party alliance with Kotwali and Khulshi Police Station in this regard.
