Why pay taxes?

Why should I pay tax? It may sound strange. But I certainly do not understand why I should pay tax. Our government unilaterally imposes tax on people and people have no choice but to pay it not understanding what justification the government has to ask for taxes. We only know we are bound to pay tax and our MPs enjoy immense immunity from the state such as importing duty-free luxury cars, owning residential plot on government land and many more privileges and they are not bound to pay taxes but ask people to pay tax. What a strange contrast! One would voluntarily pay taxes no matter what one earns if one gets some benefits in return. When people will understand that the government is working for the welfare of its people, only then they would voluntarily come forward to pay taxes. Bangladesh is a poor country but its government seems to be rich in terms of the expenditure of its ministers, bureaucrats, MPs and other interest groups. The government is providing all sorts of comfort and benefit for them at the cost of people's money. Our people do not hesitate to pay subscriptions for the construction of a mosque or a school in their own locality because they know what will be the end result of their contribution. Likewise, people will not hesitate to pay tax when they will get some result. Can we expect some changes in the future?
