Five killed, 32 injured in road accidents

Five people were killed and 32 others injured in road accidents in Netrokona, Jessore, Manikganj, Chapainawabganj and Chittagong yesterday. Our Netrokona correspondent reports, a man was killed and eight others were injured in an accident in Lepsia bazar area on Mohongonj-Lepsia road in the district yesterday. Tempo passenger Rajon Mia, 40, was killed on the spot as the tempo fell into a roadside ditch after its driver lost his control over the steering around 10:00am. Our Benapole correspondent adds, motorcyclist Abdul Karim, 32, was killed as a human-hauler hit his motorcycle on Jessore-Monirampur road in Juranpur area in Jessore yesterday. In another incident, a man was killed and 20 others were injured in a road accident in Monno Medical College and Hospital area on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Manikganj yesterday, our Manikganj correspondent reports. Police said the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound BRTC bus collided head-on with a Patirua bound bus of Sakura Paribahan killing an unidentified youth on the spot around 4:30 pm. The injured were rushed to Monno Medical College Hospital. Our Chapainawabganj correspondent reports, a man was killed and four others were injured in a road accident in Bahalabari area in Shibgonj upazila yesterday. Bikon Saha, 30, died on the spot when a Shibgonj bound speedy truck hit a rickshaw van around 5:30 am. The body was sent to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital. Our Chittagong correspondent reports, an unidentified youth was killed on the spot as a speedy lorry ran over him in Miler Matha area in Chittagong around 6:00pm yesterday.
