2 cops among seven injured in bomb blast
Seven people, including a sub-inspector (SI) of Detective Branch (DB) of police, were injured in a bomb blast while recovering phensidyl at Gopalpur village in Moheshpur upazila on Thursday night.
The injured are SI Abdul Alim and constable Rashedul Islam; local children Enamul Haque, 10, Biplob Hossain, 13, Azibor Rahman, 14, Sagar Hossain, 16, and Saltu Mia, 15.
Of them, six were admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital. Later, Biplob was referred to Jessore Medical College Hospital.
On secret information, DB police launched a drive against contraband drugs at one Motin Sardar's house at the village in Jadabpur union adjacent to border in the upazila around 8:30pm on Thursday, said Sheikh Obaidullah, DB officer-in-charge (OC) of Jhenidah.
As they moved a carton, having bottles of phensidyl, a powerful bomb exploded leaving the two policemen and locals injured, the OC said.
Police rushed to the spot and took them to hospital.
