Nagorik Oikko, a newly formed civil society platform, will work to bring the country's politics in right track, said its Chief Adviser ABM Musa yesterday. "This platform will play the watchdog's role…it will work for brining the politics, which has been derailed, in the right track," said Musa, a veteran journalist, while speaking at a press conference of the platform at Jatiya Press Club. The platform announced its central committee and declaration paper at the press conference. Its other advisers are Abdullah Sarker and SM Akram. Former Awami League leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna is the convenor while Captain (retd) MA Jabbar is the member secretary of the 182-member committee. Musa said that this organisation will not be striving for taking power or forming a new political party. Asked about the third force, he said the country's peoples are only the third force apart from the two political parties. "Like the Awami League and BNP, this third force is not organised, and I believe that the organisation will work to unite the third force," Musa said. Mahmudur Rahman said, "We will try to build such a resistance of the people so that the two big parties act more sensibly." On June 1 this year, formation of the organisation was formally announced.
