Ban battery-run vehicles
Quader directs authorities concerned; says Dhaka-Munshiganj road will be upgraded
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader directed the authorities concerned to ban battery-run Easy-bike, Karimon and Nasimon from plying highways and regional roads to stop electricity theft and decrease road accidents.
The minister asked for this while visiting Panchaboti and Moktarpur area of Narayanganj yesterday.
He also asked the authorities to be more concerned over this issue, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.
Earlier, Quader stopped his motorcade in five to six spots on the eight-kilometre road from Panchaboti to Moktarpur and talked with several Easy-bike drivers. He asked to see their documents and questioned them on how they charge their batteries.
The minister alleged that though electricity production in the country increased, the Easy-bike drivers are stealing electricity and the number of these vehicles is increasing day by day.
Quader said he already asked the deputy commissioner and upazila nirbahi officer of Narayanganj to take necessary steps in this regard immediately.
While visiting Dhaka-Munshiganj road, the communications minister said the road will be upgraded to four lanes in the future, reports Unb.
He also expressed his satisfaction over the completion of repair work of the road at Panchaboti-Moktarpur.
Quader said Bangladesh Army supervised the repair work of the eight-kilometre road, which cost Tk 17.50 crore.
