NGOs should be transparent with journos

Media should publish news about the services of NGOs with professional integrity, while NGOs should provide information to journalists transparently, said speakers. They made the suggestions at a roundtable titled “Non-Government Development Organisations in the Eyes of Media” observed these. Brac organised the event at JATRI office in the capital yesterday. Qurratul-Ain-Tahmina, news advisor of the Prothom Alo, said Media should not disseminate NGO-generated news. Afsan Chowdhury, advisor for Communications of Brac, said NGOs can not advise media to publish their success stories as journalists have to work according to their house's editorial policies. Munima Sultana, a senior correspondent at The Financial Express, Zia Hasan, media manager at Brac and M Sanaullah Lablu, chief operating officer of ABC Radio, also spoke.
