Navy passing out parade held in Ctg

Summer President Parade, passing out parade, of Midshipmen 2010/B Batch was held yesterday at Bangladesh Naval Academy in Chittagong. Nineteen midshipmen were commissioned into Acting Sub Lieutenant in Bangladesh Navy at the event. Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Zahir Uddin Ahmed reviewed the parade and took salute as chief guest at the programme, an ISPR release said. He urged the newly commissioned officers to perform their duties for the development of the nation, defend the sovereignty, serve the national interest, fulfil public expectation and build positive image of armed forces of Bangladesh. Admiral Zahir also said that nowadays females are displaying their capabilities in every sphere of activities alongside males. Bangladesh Navy has already provided training to 20 female officers and 41 female cadets since the inclusion of females in defence services by the present government, he said. Midshipman Mohammad Monirul Islam Shaheen was awarded 'Sword of Honour' for his leadership qualities and given CNS Gold Medal for his outstanding performance in professional aspect. While Midshipman Mohammad Najmul Bashar has been awarded Osmani Gold Medal for the best result in academics, said the release.
