The main opposition BNP yesterday claimed that its chairperson's recent visit to Saudi Arabia has opened a door to resolve existing problems regarding Bangladeshi workers and the government should use this opportunity with due importance. “The visit opened a closed door. Now the government has to capitalise this opportunity. Future government will do it if the present government fails,” BNP vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury said at a press briefing at the chairperson's Gulshan office. The BNP chairperson had left the country for KSA on June 15 and returned home on Monday. “During the meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince, Khaleda Zia urged to import more manpower from Bangladesh and requested to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi labours in KSA and the Prince assured her,” said Shamser who was among the entourage during the visit He said Khaleda also held meetings with Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) secretary general and Islamic Development Bank (IDB) chairman. Shamsher said Khaleda urged the OIC secretary general to play his role to resolve the Rohingya refugee problem. Chairperson's adviser Reaz Rahman and press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel were also present in the briefing.
