Masuda murder: DU students demand trial of husband

Staff Correspondent
A number of law faculty students at Dhaka University (DU) yesterday demanded exemplary punishment to the killer of Masuda Sultana, a first-year student of the faculty. The students raised the demand at a human chain programme in front of the faculty. Bangladesh Awami Ain Chhatra Parishad, a pro-government organisation of the law students, organised the programme. Masuda was allegedly strangled by her husband, Abdul Kuddus Fakir, a first year student of political science of DU, at Khanpur village in Satkhira Sadar upazila over family feud early Saturday. Confessing to his guilt Kuddus surrendered before police. The faculty's Associate Professors Sheikh Hafizur Rahman and Dr Mohammad Rahmat Ullah, among others, addressed the event.
