BNP trying to create anarchy

Dipu Moni tells JS

Foreign Minister Dipu Moni yesterday accused the opposition BNP of trying to create anarchy in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) through supporting entry of Rohingyas in the region. “They want to allow Rohingyas in the region… they want to play evil politics through destabilising this special region,” she said in parliament while taking part in the general discussion on the proposed budget for next fiscal year. Referring to the BNP's humanitarian concern for Rohingyas, Dipu Moni said: “Where was their humanity when the whole of Bangladesh was turned into a death valley during the period of 2001-06.” The BNP has recently urged the government to consider allowing the fleeing Rohingyas from Myanmar shelter in Bangladesh on humanitarian ground. Taking a swipe at the critics of rental power plants, the Foreign Minister mentioned that had there been no rental and quick rental power plants, it would not have been possible to give 21 lakh new power connections and there would have been daily load shedding of 16-18 hours. “Some Tk 161,000 crore has been added to the GDP due to the rental and quick rental power plants; otherwise, the country's economic growth would have to make a nosedive,” she said.
