JU graduate kills herself
A female graduate student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) yesterday killed herself by hanging from the ceiling fan in her room at a rented house in Ambagan area near the campus.
Shalina Parvin Tana, recently graduated from Archaeology Department, was found hanging from the ceiling with a scarf around 6:00am.
On information, police and JU authorities recovered the body.
Badrul Alam, officer-in-charge at Ashulia Police Station, said an unnatural death case was filed with the police station.
The body was not sent to hospital for an autopsy following request of her family members, he said.
Tana's friends said Tana was a residential student at Nawab Faizunnesa Hall of the university. After completing her graduation, she began to live at the rented house recently.
They said that she had an affair with a student of the university. She decided to get married to the student.
But their families did not give consent to the marriage and that might have led her to take her life, they added.
