Factory fined Tk 18 lakh for pollution
The Department of Environment (DoE) yesterday fined a dyeing factory Tk 18 lakh for polluting environment at Dakshin Panishail of Kashimpur in Gazipur.
DoE Director Mohammad Munir Chowdhury fined the factory, Yasin Knitex Ltd, as he did not find any soluble oxygen in liquid waste of the factory, says a press release.
He also ordered the factory owner to resolve the fault.
The liquid waste has been flowing into the water of the nearby river Turag.
The DoE found that the factory has so far released about 5.6 crore litre of liquid waste to the river.
