Save Afrin Sultana

Medical college admission aspirant Afrin Sultana Swarna has been fighting for her life in intensive care unit (ICU) of Ayesha Memorial Specialised Hospital at Mohakhali in the capital since June 23 with multiple organ failure. The girl, daughter of a small trader of Kolapara in Patuakhali, came to the capital for academic coaching with excellent results in SSC and HSC to become a doctor. Her dream is now about to be shattered as she has been sick since June 16. A doctor of the hospital Abdul Wadud Baig told The Daily Star that her kidneys, lungs and liver are not responding properly. A four-member medical board has been formed for her treatment. Per day medical expense amount to Tk 25-30 thousand which is being collected as loans from relatives and well-wishers, said her father Babul Talukder. Though doctors said long time treatment can save her life, there remains no way left to collect money for continuing treatment. So her family members urged the society's well-off section to extend their helping hands. The donations can be sent to Md Khalilur Rahman, savings account no 14746, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, Mirpur-10 branch. His contact number is 01722543770.
