Inu asks BNP to shun Jamaat
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haque Inu yesterday called upon Leader of the Opposition and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to break up with Jamaat-e-Islami.
Otherwise, he said, people would exclude her [Khaleda Zia] from the politics of democracy.
"No matter, rebuke me or burn by effigy a hundred and one times. But for the god's sake, please leave Jamaat and war criminals," a press release quoted him as saying.
Inu was addressing the party's Dhaka division representatives in Shaheed Col Taher Auditorium.
Alleging that BNP and some others tried to drive Sheikh Hasina out of politics, the lawmaker said his party did not believe in the exclusion of anyone from politics physically.
"We won't exclude Khaleda Zia physically. Along with the people, we will exclude her [Khaleda] politically if she does not break up with Jamaat,” he said.
Describing those who speak for “minus two” formula as war criminals, he said that to uphold democracy, war criminals must be eliminated from the politics.
The JSD chief also advised the government to attend to the ineffectiveness and mistakes in the civil administration and take steps to restore the image of the politicians.
