2 hurt in attack on journo's house

Two female schoolteachers were injured when the house of a journalist came under attack by miscreants on Shahid Minar road in Sharankhola upazila on Thursday night. The injured are Asma Akhter, 32, an assistant teacher of Tafalbari Government Primary School and also sister of journalist Mohidul Islam, and Fahima Ahter, 25, a teacher of Bhasani Kindergarten School and wife of Mohidul's brother. Mohidul, Sharankhola upazila correspondent of the daily Jaijaidin, was not at home during the incident. He told the news agency that a group of around eight people, led by Sujan Hawlader, attacked his house and beat up the two, injuring them. The attackers also looted Tk 50,000 and gold ornaments worth about Tk 50,000, he said. Mohidul said that he had previous enmity with his neighbour Sujan, son of Abdul Hamid Hawladar, over matters between their two families. The injured were admitted to upazila health complex. Sharankhola Police Station Sub-Inspector Rifatul Islam said police arrested Sujan the same night following a case filed by Mohidul's younger brother Abu Hanif, accusing five people.
