Tk 322.24cr BCC budget announced
Barisal City Corporation (BCC) announced a Tk 322.24 crore budget for 2012-13 fiscal without imposing new taxes yesterday.
Mayor Advocate Shawkat Hossain Hiron formally placed the budget at 'Nagar Bhavan' conference room.
The BCC expects Tk 81.64 crore would come from its own sources, and the remaining Tk 240.6 crore from government and non-government allocations.
In his budget speech, Hiron urged the city dwellers to cooperate by paying taxes regularly so that the corporation can implement development programmes smoothly.
In the budget, development expenditures included Tk 50 crore for streets expansion works, Tk 50 crore for water treatment plant and water supply, garbage management and renovation of drainage system, Tk 18.5 crore for rehabilitation of disaster affected and slum people, Tk 15 crore for constructing BCC complex and markets, Tk 15 crore for developing recreation facilities and beautification projects, Tk 14.75 crore for health and sanitation, Tk 10 crore for constructing truck terminal, developing bus terminals, canals excavation and Tk 20 crore for infrastructural developments.
