Knit composite factory fined Tk 25.44 lakh
Department of Environment (DoE) yesterday fined a knit composite factory in Sreepur of Gazipur Tk 25.44 lakh for polluting Shitalakkhya River.
A DoE team visited Hasin Knit Composite factory at Maona and found that the authorities were operating the factory without using an effluent treatment plant (ETP), which is mandatory, said a press release.
The factory was disposing filthy water into the river directly, said Mohammed Munir Chowdhury, DoE director of monitoring and enforcement wing.
