Two factories sealed off, fined
A mobile court in separate drives yesterday sealed off a vermicelli and a salt factories and fined them Tk 1 lakh for running their activities in unhygienic environment in Chaktai Rajakhali area of Chittagong city.
The court led by Chittagong City Corporation Magistrate Joynal Abedin fined Abdul Mannan Semai (vermicelli) Factory Tk 50 thousand, The Daily Star correspondent was present at the scene.
The court also fined Tk 50 thousand to Pubali Salt Industries for processing salt in unhygienic environment, having no iodine in the salt and using the logo of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) illegally.
