Over 30 lakh workers to be exported: minister
The government has taken an initiative to export over 30 lakh Bangladeshi workers to different labour markets in the next five years, Labour and Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain told the parliament yesterday.
He said over 39,000 Bangladeshi workers returned to the country from abroad in 2011 while dead bodies of 2,618 Bangladeshis also came in the same year.
Replying to lawmakers' queries, State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian said, “The government has taken different steps including providing loan assistance to workers who returned from abroad so that they can manage alternative employment.”
In absence of the labour minister, Sufian informed the parliament about various initiatives of the government to bring pace in the manpower export activities and to stop fraudulence in the major export earning sector.
