Birth Registration Day today
The National Birth Registration Day will be observed across the country today as President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina appreciated initiatives for easing birth records process through online registrations.
Zillur and Hasina, in separate messages on the eve of the day, said the online birth registration as well as online certification has ensured easy access to the process, prompting general people to register their names and obtain birth certificates.
"Birth registration is very important to know the size of the population and provide services from the government accordingly," said Zillur adding that this year's theme is "Birth registration within 45 days to protect the child rights".
Hasina said a total of 55 districts and all Bangladesh missions abroad have already been brought under the registration programme.
A total of 14.93 crore children and adults have so far completed their birth registrations by local government departments successfully, she said.
