Worker shot in capital

A construction worker sustained bullet injuries as unidentified miscreants opened fire on him demanding money from the developer for which the victim worked in the capital's Pallabi area yesterday. Abdul Malek, 20, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Nasir Uddin, co-worker of Malek, said two youths came at their construction site and asked Malek where the manager of the developer Amazan Holdings Ltd was. As Malek failed to say where the manager was, one of them shot him in the leg. Police said the developer complained to them that the miscreants opened fire on the worker demanding money. Police arrested Nayan and Bappi, both aged around 18.
