Robbers wearing Rab uniforms rob Tk 16 lakh
Miscreants wearing the uniform of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) robbed Tk 16 lakh from staffs of two private companies in Madhabpur of Habiganj yesterday.
According to RAK Paint Plant Manager Mainul Islam, the miscreants took away the money from the company's two staffs and two other staffs of Star Ceramics when they were retuning to the factories in Noapara area by a microbus after drawing the money from a branch of Prime Bank at Madhabpur.
RAK paint's employees Ziaur Rahman and Rafiqul Islam drew Tk 3 lakh, while Star Ceramic's employees Shaheruzzaman and Matiur Rahman drew Tk 13 lakh from the bank, he said.
A gang of the miscreants numbering 7 to 8 halted the microbus on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Jagodishpur area around 2:00 pm, he added.
Amulya Kumar Dhar, officer-in-charge at Madhabpur police station, said they arrested the driver of the microbus.
ASP Manzur, company commander at Srimangal Rab Camp, said they were investigating into the matter.
Filing of a case was under process when the report was being written at 8:30pm.
