Six injured in BCL infighting in Ctg
Six activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Omar Gani MES University College unit in Chittagong were injured in a factional clash yesterday.
The injured were Saiful Islam, Riku Chowdhury, Mohammad Malek, Sourab, Sakil Ahmed and Omar Faruk.
According to sources at the college, supporters of the college's Chhatra Sangsad Vice President Wasim Uddin and General Secretary Arshadul Alam Bachchu locked into a clash on the college premises around 11:30am.
Farrukh Ahmed Minhaj, sub-inspector at Khulshi Police Station, said the clash erupted following previous enmity between the two factions.
Principal Nazrul Islam Chowdhury said academic activities were hampered for a while because of the clash.
“We will request to police for setting up a camp on the college premises to avoid any untoward incidents,” he said.
Contacted, Bachchu said, “Our activists were not involved in the clash.”
Some outsiders locked into the clash, he added.
Wasim could not be reached despite repeated try over cellphone.
All the injured were undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
