Fire guts six factories in old Dhaka

Five people were slightly injured trying to escape a fire which gutted at least six small factories and three houses in Kayettuli in the old part of Dhaka yesterday. The locals said the fire originated from the ground floor of a two-storied building at Aga Sadek Road around 6:40pm and was fuelled by a huge amount of glue, used in making shoes, stored in one of the houses. Eight units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame around 7:40pm. Fire service officials suspect that the fire originated from an electric short circuit.
