Seven people were killed and twenty others injured in separate road accidents in Barisal, Pabna, Sirajganj, Narail and Bagerhat on Saturday and yesterday. Our Barisal correspondent reports, two people were killed and 20 others injured after a bus plunged into a ditch beside Barisal-Babuganj road at Rautkathi yesterday morning. The deceased were Shima Aktar, 4, of Vuterdia, and Ohab Gharami, 71, of Kedarpur in Babuganj upazila. The injured were taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. In Pabna, a bus hit Ambia Khatun, 3, daughter of Md Arif Sheikh of village Failzana in Chatmohor upazila, while she, with her father, was crossing Dhaka-Pabna highway in Kashinathpur area at about 9:30am yesterday, leaving her dead. Locals put up barricades on Dhaka-Pabna highway in Kashinathpur area, disrupting traffic for one hour. Meanwhile, motorcyclist Ekram Hossain, 50, was killed when bus hit his motorbike on Pabna-Ishwardi highway at Singa bypass around 8:00pm on Saturday. Following the accident, locals blocked Pabna-Ishwardi road for one hour and vandalised few vehicles. In Sirajganj, Yasin Ali, 5, of Tangail, died as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw ran him over on Mulibari-Kazipur bypass at Morgram in sadar upazila yesterday morning. In Narail, Lahu Sardar, 40, of Boramara village in sadar upazila, was killed and eight others were injured as a Nosimon (human hauler) plunged into a ditch beside Maigpara-Narail road in the upazila around 5:00pm yesterday. The injured were taken to Narail Sadar Hospital. In Bagerhat, Jubair Hossain Marzan, 8, son of Omar Faruk and a student of Dema Hafizia Madrasa, was killed after a motorcycle hit him in Dema bridge area in sadar upazila on Saturday.
