Five heroin smugglers held

Detective Branch (DB) of police overnight in separate drives arrested five people and seized half KG of heroin from capital's Mohammadpur and suburban Ashulia. "A team of DB, acting on a tip-off, arrested Shamsul Islam alias Tuhin, 29, with 250 gram of heroin from Aziz Moholla under Mohammadpur police station in the early hours of today," additional deputy commissioner (west) of DB Moshiur Rahman told reporters. "Upon his confessional statement, we also seized another 250 gram of heroin from Aramex Courier Service at Ashulia in Savar EPZ area and arrested Sadequl Alam alias Sumon, 32, Mohammad Shohag, 25, Shreebas Poddar, 32, and Mohsin Sardar, 26," he added.
