Nominations of 5 rejected
Nomination papers of five among eight seeking candidacies for Gazipur-4 constituency in the upcoming by-polls were rejected yesterday.
The district administration rejected applications of independent candidates Mir Enayet Hossain, Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, Begum Hafiza Zaman and Bazlul Haq and Gono Front candidate Mohammad Sarwar due to loan default, attesting their own papers and not having documents showing support of one percent of total voters.
Applications of AL backed candidate Simin Hossain Rimi, independent candidate Afsar Uddin Ahmed Khan and Communist Party of Bangladesh candidate Asadullah Badal were accepted. The rejected applicants can, however, appeal to the Election Commission within three days of the rejection.
