Five commit suicide in capital
Two female students, two female domestic helps and a man allegedly committed suicide in the capital's Razabazar, Mirpur, East Badda and Baridhara-DOHS Cantonment area on Wednesday and yesterday.
In an incident, Sharmin Aktar, 12, a student of class V at Gulshan Ara High School, allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in West Razabazar area yesterday.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) morgue for an autopsy.
In another incident, Ayesha Siddika, 18, a second year student at Kallyanpur School and College, allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in South Paikpara area of Mirpur around 2:30pm yesterday.
She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared her dead.
In another incident, domestic help Poly, 12, allegedly killed herself by hanging from a ceiling fan in Mirpur-6 area around 10:30am yesterday.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the DMC morgue for an autopsy.
In another incident, Mohammad Badal, 22, hanged himself from a ceiling with in his room in Badda area yesterday.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the DMC morgue for an autopsy.
In another incident, domestic help Aruna Begum, 38, allegedly committed suicide in Baridhara-DOHS Cantonment area on Wednesday night.
Police said Aruna hung herself from the shower of a bathroom with a scarf at her employer's house.
She was rushed to DMCH where doctors declared her dead.
