Admission to Buet
Committees formed to begin process
The Academic Council of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) yesterday formed admission committees to begin the first year admission process for the academic session of 2012-2013.
A central admission committee was formed at a meeting chaired by dean's committee chairman Prof Muhammad Zakaria. Prof Roxana Hafiz, dean of architecture and planning faculty, was made convenor of committee.
However, Vice Chancellor Prof SM Nazrul Islam did not attend the meeting. He sent a note to the council mentioning that he could not attend the meeting because of his illness and asked the council members to continue the meeting as per the rules.
Meanwhile, the council members expressed no confidence in two members of the newly formed admission committee and requested the university authorities not to keep them in the committee, said some members preferring anonymity.
The two members -- Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Moazzem Hossain and Directorate of Students' Welfare Director Professor Dr Nazrul Islamare the ex-officio members of the committee.
The committees will hold a meeting soon to set a date for the admission test, said the members.
