Road crashes kill two
Two people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong and Natore yesterday.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, an elderly man died as a speeding bus hit him from behind while he was crossing the road in Shantirhat area adjacent to Notun Bridge in Patiya upazila yesterday.
The victim was Md Shahabuddin, 50, of Belalnagar village in Shudharam upazila of Noakhali district.
Shahabuddin was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.
In Natore, a collage girl was killed and two others were injured as a human hauler hit a rickshaw-van in Nabinagar of Lalpur upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased Sonali Akter Sathi, daughter of Manzul Sarkar of Tilakpur village in the upazila, was a first year student of Lalpur Degree Collage.
Locals took Sonali, her friend Riya, 17, and the van-puller Mansur Rahman, to Lalpur Upazila Health Complex. Later, Sonali was shifted to Rajshahi Medical Collage Hospital where she died.
Following the death, agitating students of the collage blocked the road for one hour.
