RMG workers block highway
The workers of a readymade garments factory blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhogra Chowdhurybari area in sadar upazila of Gazipur on Monday demanding their arrear wages.
The workers of Panacea Sweater Factory staged a demonstration by burning jhut (wastage cloths) on the highway and put up barricades on it for about two hours.
Police said they took to the street as the factory authorities were yet to pay their salaries of September.
Police dispersed the angry workers and cleared the road around 7:45pm.
Abul Bashar, administrative officer of the factory, said the arrears would be paid tomorrow.
