Ten people, including a son of a lawmaker, were killed and eight others injured in road accidents in Mymensingh, Comilla, Habiganj, Netrakona, Chittagong and Gopalganj yesterday. Our Mymensingh correspondent reports, Dr Mushfiqur Rahman Shuvo, 35, son of Matiur Rahman, the lawmaker of Mymensingh sadar constituency, died as an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle at Bhoradoba in Bhaluka of Mymensingh yesterday. The vehicle rammed Shuvo's motorcycle on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the area while he was going to Dhaka from Mymensingh around 5:45am, killing him instantly, said police. In Comilla, three people died instantly as two trucks collided head-on on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Madhaia of Chandina upazila yesterday morning. The deceased were trucker Sohan, 30, of Fatullah in Narayanganj, his helper Iqbal, 21, of Sonargaon in the district, and another truck driver Mamun, 28, of Manikganj. Meanwhile, Touhidul Islam, 28, was killed instantly and five others were injured in a bus-truck collision on the highway at Roypur in Daudkandi yesterday. In Habiganj, two persons were killed and three others injured as a truck hit an auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Andiura of Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj yesterday afternoon. The deceased were the auto-rickshaw driver Ilias Ali, 27, and his passenger Sajal Dev, 30. In Netrakona, Sumita Rani, 60, died when a motorcycle hit her on Kendua-Paikura road at Paikura Bazar in Kendua upazila yesterday morning. In Chittagong, an unidentified old man died as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit him at Paka Raster Matha point in Pahartali of the port city yesterday noon. In Gopalganj, Animesh Biswas, 25, of Kashiani upazila, died as a microbus fell into the river Madhumoti at the Kalna ferry ghat in Gopalganj yesterday morning.
