Four accused of rape in Chittagong

A woman yesterday accused four men of raping her on November 7 in Lohagara of Chittagong. The accused are Abdul Mannan, 25, Md Mannan, 32, Md Rashed, 28 and Md Nazrul Islam, 26, all hailing from Jangle Padua village under Lohagara upazila. In her case filed with Lohagara Police Station, the woman said the accused locked her husband inside a room in Jahed Fisheries, where he worked, and raped her there on the night of November 7, said Md Shahjahan, officer-in-charge of the police station. Although the victim lodged the case yesterday, police arrested Md Rashed on Sunday following her verbal complaint, said police sources. A village arbitration was held on November 9 but the accused were only fined Tk 6,000 for violating the woman, they added. Failing to get proper justice, the victim later lodged the verbal complaint with the police station on Sunday and finally the case was lodged yesterday, police said.
