Man 'kills' wife in capital
A housewife was beaten and then strangled to death allegedly by her husband in Bhatara in the capital yesterday evening.
The victim was identified as Fatema Begum, 22. The husband Habibur Rahman Habib has been absconding, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziauzzaman of Bhatara Police Station.
Fatema had an altercation with her husband Habibur Rahman Habib over a cellphone call in their Solmait residence around 6:00pm. At one stage, Habib beat Fatema up and finally strangled her, said the OC.
Habib informed the resident of a sublet of the residence, Nipa, a garment worker by profession, over phone that the condition of Fatema was serious. Nipa rushed to the house and found Fatema dead, said the OC quoting Nipa.
