Cop arrested for hacking wife
A policeman was held on charge of hacking his wife at Guptomari village under Batiaghata upazila in Khulna early yesterday.
The arrestee was Sheikh Zahidul Islam, an assistant sub-inspector at Khoksha Police Station in Kushtia.
Batiaghat police said they arrested ASI Zahidul, of Kalabaria village under Naragati upazila in Narail, around 3:00am.
Earlier, locals caught him when he was trying to flee after hacking his wife following an altercation over having another wife and children and also for hiding his Muslim identity during marriage.
